SaMPL offers an unusual combination of high-level teaching, research in Sound and Music Computing (SMC), and production of contemporary music with a Living Lab approach. Its statute allows the interfacing of research, didactics and production initiatives, by carrying out events such as SaMPL Schools and Living Lab Music which constitute their logical outcomes: experiences that turn research content into creative practice, validating the former purposes within art and music academic institutions. Since 2010, SaMPL Schools have been an opportunity of growth and impulse for personal and pioneering ventures.

The method that characterizes SaMPL Schools includes an open call for projects, peer reviewing, collaborative work, strong interdisciplinary approach, and public presentation of results. The ideal applicant is the curious and motivated artist who owns the basic - even minimal - skills in order to create a tangible product during the workshop.
